Every price on this site traces to a named source with a publication date, and no figure appears until somebody has opened that source and confirmed the number matches. This page lists all 28 sources, explains the check, and shows the current state of the data — including the parts that are not finished.

Most unverified figures are not doubtful — they come from publishers whose pages block automated re-checking, so confirming them takes a person reading the page. That is a limit of our process, not a judgement on the figures, and it is why we will not publish them yet.

Scope
What the figures include, and what they leave out
Labour wages are US Bureau of Labor Statistics OEWS medians for May 2025, verified directly against bls.gov.
Installed prices are drawn from four published cost surveys — Angi, This Old House, HomeGuide and EcoWatch — each recorded with its own publication date and stated methodology. Where they disagree, we show the spread rather than averaging it.
We check published prices against each other and against BLS wage data. Labour is now taken from a published per-foot figure rather than inferred: This Old House gives seamless installation labour at $5 per linear foot. Against BLS median wages for a two-person crew ($52.15/hour combined) that implies roughly ten linear feet per crew-hour before overhead and profit, which is the right order of magnitude for hanging seamless gutter. We publish the sourced per-foot figure, not the implied rate.
Gutter guard pricing depends more on where you buy than on what you buy. The same micro-mesh product runs roughly $6-8/ft as a DIY kit and about $16/ft through a national brand.
Cleaning is quoted two different ways and they do not reduce to the same number. Consumer cost surveys report a rate per linear foot; contractor-facing price guides report a flat rate per job by the number of storeys. A flat rate is footage-blind, so two two-storey houses with 125 and 200 feet of gutter get the same flat quote and materially different per-foot quotes. We publish both and show where they land rather than averaging them into one figure: at 150 feet, the middle of the typical range, the two conventions agree on a two-storey house to within $1.25, and diverge by $25.00 at one storey and $62.50 at three. That arithmetic is ours. Our calculators price per foot, because that is the basis that responds to your actual house.
These are estimates, not a quote. They do not account for your home's access, roof pitch, fascia condition, local permits, or an individual contractor's pricing.

How often this is refreshed
Cost data is reviewed quarterly, and the review date on a page is only ever changed when the figures were actually rechecked. Touching a timestamp without touching the data would be trivially easy and completely self-defeating on a site whose product is accurate pricing.
